Pockie Pirates is a turn-based MMORPG played in the browser. Based on the anime One Piece, this side-scrolling adventure features vibrant, colorful graphics appropriate for an anime adaptation. The pirate setting promises and delivers adventure – you start off an aspiring pirate and work your way up, ever in fear of falling off the gangplank. Four classes – swordsman, navigator, sniper and doctor – are great for diversity’s sake, but characters start off looking exactly the same, which can be confusing. The ship and gear customization options at later levels are nice, though. ‘Instanced’ missions are often crowded and hard to get into. The combat is computer-controlled, leaving players out of the action; there’s an auto quest option as well. Overall, Pockie Pirates is a nice experience given that it’s a browser-based title and most players enter with moderate expectations.See Videos

Pockie Saints is a social, anime-inspired MMORPG played from an isometric perspective. The fan-servicing advertisements might lead one to conclude that the game’s not suitable for minors, but thankfully ‘anime’ is the operative word here, not ‘hentai’. There are three classes and even some lore, which will slip by players as they mindlessly auto-quest through the pretty and colorful world of Pockie Saints. The game features an interesting zodiac system that encompasses the whole game, with players crafting zodiac medals that provide characters with new, powerful skills. Players have customizable pets and can choose their skills, and then there’s the elaborate crafting system. There are also numerous social features within the game, but one rarely sees any meaningful communication taking place. Players looking for something fresh in this genre would very well pass this by, but, that being said, Pockie Saints does deliver a solid experience if you enter with moderate expectations.See Videos

Prime World (PW) is a Multiplayer Battle Arena (MOBA) game with castle building elements. Prime World follows the same basic structure of other MOBAs – players’ heroes get pitted against those of their enemies to duke it out and gain the game’s prime resource (called Prime, incidentally), much like in League of Legends or Dota. The game has two clients – a social one that allows players to customize their castle, giving their hero new abilities and gaining resources, and a PvP client that hosts the PvP pits. There are numerous twists to PW that make it different but might also raise an eyebrow: there’s a mini-game played during combat that gives players scrolls; players get bonuses on native terrain (a nice touch really); and characters of opposite sex can give each other bonuses. The actual combat is OK and PW could serve as an entry-level MOBA since no items exist and the game sports a good tutorial.See Videos

An emotionally charged online role playing game. Nice graphics with something of an Asian feel. The combat is fluid, with rather mediocre quests but many opportunities for grinding. Lots of PvP opportunities (starting from level 26) on a densely populated world. If you are one for sad stories and killing hordes of monsters, you’ll like this one.See Videos

Rappelz is a fantasy-themed MMORPG. The game has a vast class system; players can choose from three classes – mage, warrior, and archer – three jobs and two “sub-jobs” for each job. The graphics are okay, but landscapes and cities lack detail. Rappelz has a developed pet system with pet skills and transformations. The combat is nice, and it gets more interesting as the character’s level increases. The quests, however, are dull from the very beginning, and steer towards grinding rather than advancing the story at all. Rappelz is very PvP-centric and that’s the most challenging aspect of the game; players can attack other players even from their own faction, and things become rather intense on PvP servers where players can sometimes be looted upon death.See Videos

AKA Regnum Online, Realms Online is a fantasy themed MMORPG. Choose your hero from three realms that battle each other tirelessly. Six classes and nine races to choose from; classes are race-dependent. A unique aspect of the game, Realm vs. Realm play, takes place in the “war zone” of the map where realms engage in war games, trying to capture their foes’ forts and castles to get bonuses for their realms or corrupt others for a time. Well-written lore and a massive game world. The graphics are rather outdated however, with landscapes often lacking in detail. The start seems slow, but the pace picks up on levels past 10, once you’re ready for PvP and have gotten used to the somewhat complex combat.See Videos

Developed by Chinese tech titan NetEase and published by My.com, the Russian-owned entertainment company behind Skyforge, Revelation Online is an Asian-themed MMORPG that features massive, flyable, open world, frenetic, action-oriented combat, and a plethora of PvE and PvP options to keep the player engaged. Starting players get to choose from six unique classes and get to fiddle around with their looks using the game's very robust character creator. Combat can be done via traditional tab-targeting, assisted action combat, or a hybrid version of the two. Some classes are best suited for certain combat schemes, so new players should read up before progressing further into the game. The world of Nuanor, Revelation Online's setting, is breathtaking and features stunning vistas and landscapes. Fortunately for the player, they can explore the entirety of this mostly-seamless world with the game's flight system, which becomes available early on. Leveling up in the game is quest-centric, with a heavy focus on daily quests and events. Missing out on these daily activities will slow down the player's progression. Upon level-up, players are awarded points which they can freely allocate to character stats that improve their class in different ways. Gearing up involves a lot of dungeon and raid runs on different difficulty settings. Costuming is present in the game, for those interested in further character customization. Gear crafting, as well as non-combat professions, such as Cooking and Fishing, are also part of the features, allowing for players to increase their character's versatility. Avid "theme-park" MMORPG gamers will find Revelation Online to be a treat when it comes to things to do. PvP is quite robust as well, featuring duels, 3v3 arena battles, battlegrounds, instanced guild wars and persistent castle/territory sieging. There's a cash shop element in the game, which mostly deals with costuming and convenience items. While paying players will see an advantage by purchasing these conveniences, the gap isn't really insurmountable by their non-paying counterpart. Essentially, it will only take the non-paying gamer a longer time to complete certain game milestones compared to the paying kind. Some gamers might be turned off at that prospect, but that's a common system in most F2P games.See Videos

Rise of Mythos
Rise of Mythos (RoM) is a fantasy MMO trading card game. It has a total of four classes – mage, ranger, warrior and priest – and boasts a friendly user interface with cartoony graphics. The tutorial helpfully and gradually introduces the four-lane, turn-based combat, which is surely the best thing about RoM, ND features seven card types of different elements along with hero items and card desk assembly. Two maps are available to the player: the story map and the city map. The story map is for leveling up and exploring while the city map hosts PvP and the card auction house. The numerous social features in this game are helpful in making friends. An extra degree of complexity is added with strategy-game-like upgrades to your town hall and buildings. Of course, this all comes with a price—it’s free to play, but scaling the heights is next to impossible without paying.See Videos

Royal Quest is a fantasy-themed MMORPG similar to Ragnarok Online. It’s developed by the people behind Space Rangers and King's Bounty. Players set off on a colorful adventure in the world of Aura, choosing from four classes with two sub-classes each, selected when the player reaches level 20. The game gets quite challenging at later levels, to the point where a single monster can easily take the player out. To counter that, there’s a cool guild system where guilds level up as well, bestowing various bonuses on their members. There’s also open-world PvP where you get some of the slain enemy’s loot. Sideline activities like herb gathering, crafting and the likes are abundant, and there are fun PvP modes like castle sieging to be found in Royal Quest. The combat strongly echoes that of Ragnarok Online, and that’s of course both a good and a bad thing, depending on whether you enjoyed that game. Royal Quest definitely has many good things going for it: the cash shop seems fair; the actual world is beautiful even if the mobs don’t stand out as particularly unique, and the social features are implemented with a degree of originality. However, it does tend to get tedious in later levels, and for the game having ‘quest’ in its name, the quests are surprisingly uninspired. Better team up with someone or prepare to be bored, sooner or later.See Videos

Runes Of Magic
Runes of Magic is a MMORPG, set in a fantasy world, graphically similar to that of WoW. There are eight classes and two races – elves and humans – to choose from, and each character can have a sub-class at lvl 10. The sub-class has to be leveled up separately. Quests are plentiful and intertwine with the story very well – players will almost never have to simply kill 20 desert rats for a quest, because most of the quests are connected with the story. There’s a peculiar ‘rune system’ that rewards players with stats when runes are collected. PvP play is very developed in Runes of Magic, both in instances and open-world, with players sometimes dropping items when slain by another player.See Videos

Shadowbound is a browser-based MMORPG by R2Games. It has a casual touch, meaning most of the game can be played through automatically. Players choose a male or female character, having picked their character class from the holy trinity of RPGs—Mage, Warrior, Hunter (Archer)—and enter the colorful world of Shadow bound. Players can hire mercenaries and later on can be accompanied by powerful guardians. PvP opens at level 31, featuring 3v3 and 8v8 arenas with... automatic combat. Players supplement their Battle Rating – the main measure of success – with gear and talismans, the acquisition of which is quite fun. There are many things to do ‘on the side’ as well: players engage in trivia games, and if not successful they’re turned into an alpaca; the social aspects are well-developed; and overall there’s just a lot to do in Shadowbound. The interface can get cluttered at times, but on the flip side there’s a button to remove player models from the screen. Shadowbound features solid performance throughout, and if not for titles like Wartune, it could be seen as the game that reaches closest to the Platonic ideal of the genre. The casual gamer will find nothing particularly unique in Shadowbound, but nothing particularly disappointing as well.See Videos

Shadowland Online is a strategy MMO with RPG elements. Humankind has been all but annihilated by the undead that have entered through a break in space, and it is up to -- of course -- the player to save humanity. The story is nice actually, and combines real history with fiction: for example, you can win over the Spartan hero Leonidas as a quest reward. Choose from three races and three main unit types; build up your city; form alliances, and, finally, muster up enough strength to get rid of the undead once and for all. Lots of social features and some in-game events also help. Although the game is somewhat complicated once you’re out of the tutorial, it is very rewarding in the later levels, and is surprisingly fun.See Videos

Shaiya is a fantasy-themed MMORPG set in a world where two factions -- the Alliance of Light and the Union of Fury – battle tirelessly for control over the world. Each faction has two races and three classes to choose from. There’s a rather large skill system; even on lower levels players will have plenty of skills to use. The servers are densely populated, and the world offers a great number of quests and PvP opportunities. Shaiya has a dark, somewhat cryptic atmosphere, and the graphics aren’t bad at all. What sets Shaiya apart is the character leveling: players are able to select their leveling pace at character creation. Players with faster leveling will have weaker characters in the end, but this feature ensures that casual gamers will have fun playing Shaiya, too.See Videos

Shards of the Dreams
A browser-based MMORPG, Shards of the Dreams (SOD) takes players to a fantasy world, which they can explore from an isometric perspective. Choose from two factions (surprisingly, "the empire" is the good side in this game) as well as four classes, complete engaging quests, compete in instances, engage in PvP and try to get better gear. The game is strikingly similar to some well-known titles, with perhaps Diablo and Ultima Online being the most obvious examples. That is not to say that SOD has no merits of its own. The developers have done their best to make quests more diverse than in similar games, and the graphics have a special feeling to them as well. There is, however, very little information available about many of the game’s features, such as crafting, PvP and dungeons.See Videos

Siegelord is a MMO Strategy with RPG elements. It’s set in a medieval fantasy universe where the player’s kingdom has come under attack. It’s up to you to fend off the attacks and expand at the same time. There are three factions to choose from, and they all have some vaguely unique characteristics. Combat can be controlled, and, although having more troops is what usually counts, strategy can in fact make it or break it during battle. PvP, an integral part of the game, opens up pretty late, but you’ll be kept busy with instances and quests until you can find some real enemies. Battles are faction-based. As far as production value goes, Siegelord looks and feels and plays great. There’s even a community radio, which accepts players’ requests. Siegelord is definitely trying to do something unique, and even though the game doesn’t succeed at some things—like the rather hazy storyline or the mindless clickety-click-click of the early-to-mid game—it’s definitely a refreshing title you’re likely to enjoy.See Videos
