Star Trek Online (STO) is a sci-fi MMORPG game, set in the universe of the Star Trek TV shows. Players can choose from three officer professions engineer, science, and tactical and numerous races that pertain to the Star Trek canon. The character customization is greatly detailed. Players are given a starship of their own and, after a brief introduction, they start completing ground missions and space missions (the former are far more interesting) to gain experience and new skills. Visually, the game is beautiful and its story is appealing even to players new to Star Trek. Missions become repetitive as the player levels up, but social features help in overcoming the stale gameplay. Overall, however, STO doesnt do justice to the original franchise, and even the regular updates havent been able to cope with the shortcomings inherent in the game economy and combat, making the game less interesting as you progress.

Soul of Guardian (SoG) is a browser-based MMORPG with a touch of fantasy. Players pick from four classes blade warrior, dagger assassin, hammer judge, spear guard and complete quests, participate in events, acquire pets as well as new gear, and so on. Auto-move makes it incredibly easy to do quests. The experience rate is huge (you can make it to level 20 in about 15 minutes), but the game quickly becomes boring some might say casual because of the redundant quests. SoGs graphics are bright with clear and spirited colors. The part of the game that's most fun is the PvP. The game has its flaws, but its new, so hopefully well see it become more interesting. On the bright side, SoGs paid features are alluring, but not game-changing, and the game itself can serve up a refreshing gaming session at the end of a tiring day.

Skyrama is a browser-based airport simulator with nice, cartoony graphics. Players start with a simple plane runway and expand their airport with service bays, passenger towers and warehouses; decorations can also be built, and they actually do something -- they increase the passenger flow. There are daily and story-driven quests and a social system which allows you to earn both you and your buddies some extra aircoin, the main resource in Skyrama. You have to service and maintain your planes (your planes act quite like pets) and as well as other players planes which arrive at your airport to get gold. Skyrama is pretty fun for a casual game, and exploring the games numerous features and buildings just might get you hooked.

A browser-based MMORPG, Shards of the Dreams (SOD) takes players to a fantasy world, which they can explore from an isometric perspective. Choose from two factions (surprisingly, "the empire" is the good side in this game) as well as four classes, complete engaging quests, compete in instances, engage in PvP and try to get better gear. The game is strikingly similar to some well-known titles, with perhaps Diablo and Ultima Online being the most obvious examples. That is not to say that SOD has no merits of its own. The developers have done their best to make quests more diverse than in similar games, and the graphics have a special feeling to them as well. There is, however, very little information available about many of the games features, such as crafting, PvP and dungeons.

Shaiya is a fantasy-themed MMORPG set in a world where two factions -- the Alliance of Light and the Union of Fury battle tirelessly for control over the world. Each faction has two races and three classes to choose from. Theres a rather large skill system; even on lower levels players will have plenty of skills to use. The servers are densely populated, and the world offers a great number of quests and PvP opportunities. Shaiya has a dark, somewhat cryptic atmosphere, and the graphics arent bad at all. What sets Shaiya apart is the character leveling: players are able to select their leveling pace at character creation. Players with faster leveling will have weaker characters in the end, but this feature ensures that casual gamers will have fun playing Shaiya, too.

Shadowland Online is a strategy MMO with RPG elements. Humankind has been all but annihilated by the undead that have entered through a break in space, and it is up to -- of course -- the player to save humanity. The story is nice actually, and combines real history with fiction: for example, you can win over the Spartan hero Leonidas as a quest reward. Choose from three races and three main unit types; build up your city; form alliances, and, finally, muster up enough strength to get rid of the undead once and for all. Lots of social features and some in-game events also help. Although the game is somewhat complicated once youre out of the tutorial, it is very rewarding in the later levels, and is surprisingly fun.

Shadowbound is a browser-based MMORPG by R2Games. It has a casual touch, meaning most of the game can be played through automatically. Players choose a male or female character, having picked their character class from the holy trinity of RPGsMage, Warrior, Hunter (Archer)and enter the colorful world of Shadow bound. Players can hire mercenaries and later on can be accompanied by powerful guardians. PvP opens at level 31, featuring 3v3 and 8v8 arenas with... automatic combat. Players supplement their Battle Rating the main measure of success with gear and talismans, the acquisition of which is quite fun. There are many things to do on the side as well: players engage in trivia games, and if not successful theyre turned into an alpaca; the social aspects are well-developed; and overall theres just a lot to do in Shadowbound. The interface can get cluttered at times, but on the flip side theres a button to remove player models from the screen. Shadowbound features solid performance throughout, and if not for titles like Wartune, it could be seen as the game that reaches closest to the Platonic ideal of the genre. The casual gamer will find nothing particularly unique in Shadowbound, but nothing particularly disappointing as well.

Rusty Hearts is an anime-inspired hack and slash MMORPG. There are four classes, along with avatars, which are mere replicas of the opposite sex. The graphics are stylish and blend nicely with players and their actions. The gameplay is fun at first, but can become repetitive, especially in PvE. The game is instance-based, so dungeons and arenas are plentiful. So are social features like character rooms, group quests and guilds. PvP is a real treat with solo modes such as deathmatch, survivor, and team tag for cooperative PvP. The PvP environment also features a ladder system for the competitive-minded. Although the game can become repetitive, it is playable at the very least, and, if you dont play Rusty Hearts as a single-player game, it can actually be quite rewarding.

Rise of Mythos (RoM) is a fantasy MMO trading card game. It has a total of four classes mage, ranger, warrior and priest and boasts a friendly user interface with cartoony graphics. The tutorial helpfully and gradually introduces the four-lane, turn-based combat, which is surely the best thing about RoM, ND features seven card types of different elements along with hero items and card desk assembly. Two maps are available to the player: the story map and the city map. The story map is for leveling up and exploring while the city map hosts PvP and the card auction house. The numerous social features in this game are helpful in making friends. An extra degree of complexity is added with strategy-game-like upgrades to your town hall and buildings. Of course, this all comes with a priceits free to play, but scaling the heights is next to impossible without paying. The current version of Rise of Mythos, called 火焰征程, is only available with Chinese text. However, the RiseOfMythos subreddit has a pinned post to a patch that replaces most of the text.

The game is full of PvP instances and arenas, and, to top it off, slaying your enemies rewards you with much more than mere honor. Rappelz is a fantasy-themed MMORPG. The game has a vast class system; players can choose from three classes mage, warrior, and archer three jobs and two sub-jobs for each job. The graphics are okay, but landscapes and cities lack detail. Rappelz has a developed pet system with pet skills and transformations. The combat is nice, and it gets more interesting as the characters level increases. The quests, however, are dull from the very beginning, and steer towards grinding rather than advancing the story at all. Rappelz is very PvP-centric and thats the most challenging aspect of the game; players can attack other players even from their own faction, and things become rather intense on PvP servers where players can sometimes be looted upon death.

Play with your friends if possible as then each battle will become an engaging story. Although player and weapon models might seem generic, the environment is well-detailed and overall the game looks great (an up-to-date computer, however, is required to enjoy Planetside 2 without lag). Pit of War (PoW) is an exciting browser-based MMORPG in which players compete as gladiators in the pits of the dreadful fantasy world called Great Realm. Success in PoW depends on mastering the intricacies of the gladiatorsthere are three distinct classes of theseand finding the best strategy to cut through opponents. PoW is text-only so the fights are auto-played according to your strategy. Battling players or computer-controlled champions will provide money, spent on new weapons or gladiators. PoW looks splendid with oh-so-serious visuals that pertain to the backstory as well as gory images accompanying battle reports. The interface is flawless, skill-trees add near unlimited variety and theres always something to doplayers can participate in unranked fights for epic gear or complete daily quests for experience and items. PoW is truly an amazing experience, somehow managing to bring the excitement of a more immersive game type, say 3D hacknslash, to the browser. The only real complaint is that trophies, the games premium currency, give a very real edge to paying players still you can always complete some surveys.

OverKings is a fantasy MMORPG, played in the browser. The game is set in a mythological world, and its lore is fine, actually, revolving around a world in chaos after a struggle between two great heroes, caused by the vicious hero Nameless. There are eight character classes (warriors, healers, wizards the usual). There are plenty of PvP and PvE opportunities as well as quests in OverKings, but most of the quests are along the lines of the usual kill this and bring that. OverKings is instance-based, and you have to explore the game world to find mobs to fight. Hint: you might prefer to avoid red zones without a party, as other players can loot up to 30% of your equipment if you get killed.

The game has an awesome pet system you can capture mobs when they are down to low HP, level together with them, and use them in combat. You can build your own house, buy furniture, and invite friends to visit. Combat in NosTale is rather uneventful; PvP is interesting, though.
