Dead Frontier is a browser-based 3D survival horror MMO, played from an overhead view. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world with zombies swarming the streets and players doing their best to kill them, either single-handedly or in a team. Players fight for their lives, buy ammo and increase their stats by killing hordes of zombies in a creepy environment where it�s impossible to see two steps ahead. Dead Frontier has much variety, sporting 19 classes and 100+ weapons in an extensive game world. The real fun in this game, arguably, is to be had playing co-op as real people tend to be more fun than the AI. Still there�s no voice chat, but typing while playing is awkward. Some say that Dead Frontier is quite difficult, but once you get the hang of it, this quickly turns out to be untrue. Dead Frontier definitely has some merit: at times it�s genuinely scary and fun, plus it has a great atmosphere and soundtrack with good visuals. However, it just gets too repetitive and easy for players to bother with it after the first few hours.

Doom Warrior
Doom Warrior is a gory, turn-based fighting arena MMO heavily influenced by the aesthetics of the Conan the Barbarian universe. Doom Warrior has the player become a slave and fight his or her way to freedom by defeating other contestants. Be warned that the game contains not only gore, but nudity in the form of ever-naked breasts for the female models (apparently they hadn�t invented armor that covers the bosom). There are numerous beasts to fight and areas to unlock. The game is turn-based in the way that it allows attacking and blocking, mostly in turns. Blocks are made depending on what the UI tells you�it�s sad as the most important part of the game is dumbed down, really. The story is ultimately boring, but does a good job of preparing the player for the oh-so-serious battles to come. Characters are customized based on stats, and there are buffs even non-paying fighters can acquire. Doom Warrior is fun in short bursts�actually, you can only play in short bursts after level 15 or so, as there�s a �stamina system� in place here�and the abundance of content ensures that you can play it for months upon months. The question of whether you�d want to remains open, though.

Dragon Nest is an MMORPG by Eyedentity games, published by Nexon in NA and Gamigo in Europe. Start your adventure in the fantasy world and follow the immersive story by leveling up and interacting with the hilarious NPCs. Dragon Nest sports six classes with skills that supplement one another in dungeons and parties. The best thing about Dragon Nest is its combat system, featuring intense, skill-based battles that happen in real time. The rest is impeccably polished as well with abundant cinematics, great voice acting and lots of content. The graphics aren't that good but fit the overall tone of the game. In larger battles it can become hard to follow the events on the screen. Both PvP and PvE are well-developed with raids happening often and offering a good way of getting rare items. Dragon Nest, even though released three years ago, is still one of the best MMORPGs in terms of gameplay and especially combat. There are, however, valid complaints that the endgame tends to be overly competitive.

Epic Duel (ED) is a turn-based dueling game where you join one of two factions on planet Delta V and become a Tech Mage, a Bounty Hunter or a Mercenary, then train to acquire new weapons, participate in 1v1 and 2v2 combat and bring glory to your faction. ED offers plenty of variety for a Flash game—players can customize their characters well enough; skills are plentiful as are items and achievements. Matchmaking is quick and, even though ED doesn't have a tutorial, it’s easy to grasp. 2v2 battles are the game’s salt—highly addictive, plus they do require some knowledge of both your opponents’ and your own skills. That being said, ED is definitely a game to be played in short bursts, otherwise it gets repetitive because there are only two game modes. The in-game currency gives advantages to those who pay. However, as there’s always something to do in the ample game world, and as the matchmaking is that simple… logging in and fighting for a bit is just too easy to find serious fault with this game.

F.E.A.R. Combat
The complete multiplayer component of the retail first person shooter/thriller. Play along with retail purchasers and others who have downloaded the free multiplayer aspect of the game. Unique slow motion game mode that when activated slows everyone down but you (while balancing out the advantage by alerting everyone to where you are in the process). Lots of weapons to pin your opponents with. Nice physics use and weaponless attacks like jump kicks that may not be as annoying as say, a crowbar, but still as effective (and not to mention the very popular kick to the head for a coup de grace).

The world of Eremos is one of endless strife and conquest. The Felspire looms at the center of this ravaged land, acting as a gateway to the demonic underworld. Many wars have been waged over this mysterious tower, and to this day, demons still emerge from its labyrinthine catacombs. It is now up to brave adventurers like you to solve the mysteries of the Felspire and finally end the demonic invasion once and for all. 37Games's Felspire looks and plays like the typical, haphazardly-developed browser game cluttering the Internet nowadays. Standard browser game features like automated pathing and combat are present, along with the complementary cluttered user interface. Felspire stands apart from the bunch somewhat by featuring an "automated character progression system" that eliminates the usual grinding. After reaching a certain point in the game, players will be able to turn on the "AFK Helper" feature that will complete quests for the player whenever they're inactive. With grinding out of the way, players will have more time to devote to the game's many co-op dungeons and various PvP/GvG offerings. Competitive PvP will likely require a substantial cash investment if the player wants to participate at the highest tiers. Aside from the "automated progression system", there's nothing new or unique in Felspire. Generic fantasy, with generic gameplay and progression systems, and generic graphics and music. With the game leaning very heavily on automated gameplay, it makes one wonder: "Am I playing the game, or is the game playing me?"

Free Jack is a parkour racing MMO. Players compete with each other to the finish line, overcoming different obstacles on the way. Sort of like an online version of Mirror’s Edge with lots of Mario Kart. During runs, players employ peculiar power-ups like kisses and garbage cans to set their enemies back. The game sports four classes – two male and two female – with unique abilities and characteristics. Free Jack has both solo and team matchups and they’re all very exciting. Matchmaking, which is very important for arcade games like these, is well-balanced -- you’ll seldom find games where you finish light years behind the pack. Vibrant and colorful environments plus characters with an anime feel make the game look and feel great. Free Jack is, at its best, an engrossing and addictive experience – but play it for too long and the lack of variety can wear on. The fun will last longer if you enjoy it with moderation.

Game of War: Fire Age is a massively multiplayer mobile 2D game cut in the same cloth as Clash of Clans and Vikings: War of Clans. It's a base-building, empire-builder strategy game that's solely tilted to cooperative PvP. A mythical ancient Greece is the setting for this game, so expect similarly themed structures, units, and heroes from the period. The usual hallmarks of empire-builder games are present in Game of War: Fire Age. Players build structures, train troops, and wage wars against neighboring players. There's a hero customization system, equipment crafting mechanics and of course, an alliance system that facilitates massive team versus team warfare. War-loving gamers will feel right at home in this game. Like most free-to-play empire strategy titles, Game of War: Fire Age is a "love it or hate it" affair. It will ultimately require players to spend some cash to be truly competitive in the game. The game's alliance and PvP-centric gameplay might not appeal to solo and casual players, but strategy and war-freaks will enjoy what the game has to offer - provided they're willing to invest some moolah in it.

Guild Wars 2 is ArenaNet and NCSoft's sequel MMORPG to 2005's highly acclaimed Guild Wars online game. Set in the world of Tyria, a land of fantastical creatures and mysterious magicks, Guild Wars 2 takes place 250 years after the first installment, in a tumultuous period when the Elder Dragons have begun their reawakening. Together with the members of Destiny's Edge, a group of powerful adventurers, the player must face the incoming onslaught of the Elder Dragons and their hordes, and save Tyria from the brink of destruction. Guild Wars 2 features five playable races and nine distinct classes (professions) at character creation. There are no dedicated healer professions in the game, so players are encouraged to mix their party compositions to find the most suitable setup for an encounter. Combat in Guild Wars 2 is fast-paced, with an action-oriented slant. Players can evade attacks using a built-in dodge mechanic. Skills are profession-based and weapon-specific, though, players can switch to an alternate weapon during combat to access a different skill set. Players only have a limited number of skill slots, which is a refreshing change from the usual "skill pianos" (multiple hotkey bars) common in full-blown MMORPGs. PvE content is story-driven, with the player going through the story in their own unique way via the "Personal Story" system. Zones have timed "Dynamic Events" where players cooperate to complete specific objectives for rewards. World bosses spawn in certain maps as well, rewarding players with loot for a successful battle. Guild Wars 2's PvP comes in two forms - Structured PvP and World VS World. Structured PvP has different match types and gives participants equal access to top level equipment and skills to even the playing field. World VS World is an ongoing battle between three game servers that takes place in one massive battleground with multiple objectives. Overall, you can't go wrong in choosing to play Guild Wars 2. It's free to play (but you'll have to shell out cash to access the latest expansion content), has meaningful, story-driven PvE content and highly competitive PvP modes. It's very polished in all aspects and has a stable community of players in its following. Don't hesitate to give it a try if you're looking for a quality MMORPG that's worthy of your time and money.

Infinite Crisis
Infinite Crisis is a MOBA set in the DC universe. As of now it features 20 heroes with four active skills as well as one passive skill, but many more are sure to be added as the game matures. What’s interesting is that in IC there are some game modes altogether new to MOBAs. For example, the map called Gotham Heights has a cannon for spawning drones (the cannon can be used strategically to great effect); maps have destructible stuff in them, which allows for building hidden pathways; and so on. However, Infinite Crisis is still very much rough around the edges. For example, different items look alike, which makes shopping confusing and slow. There are of course balancing issues and occasional bugs. But what we have here looks promising, and especially promising to those who like playing superheroes.

From the publishers of the League of Angels series and Magerealm comes Legacy of Discord: Furious Wings, a 3D isometric dungeon crawler similar in style to Blizzard's Diablo 3. Players begin their quest for shiny, legendary loot and eternal PvP dominance by selecting one of three available gender-locked classes: the giant-sword-wielding Berserker, the speedy Bladedancer or the spell-chucking Sorceress. Combat is graphically flashy and fairly fast-paced, with a focus on class abilities and combo chaining. Equipment farming and refining are crucial aspects in Legacy of Discord and will determine how far you can go in both PvE and PvP endeavors. There's the usual PvE fare in the form of storyline quests and boss battle challenges, but these ultimately take a backseat to the game's PvP options, which are basically the game's selling point. PvP can be done in a 1v1 arena, a 5v5 team battle, or a massive scale guild wars setting. Competitive gamers wanting to stick around and participate in higher rungs of PvP must be ready with a substantial cash investment if they want to dominate their foes in the game. Otherwise, the experience going forward will be a long, frustrating uphill battle. Non-paying players beware unless they have a thing for endless grinding and battling against the odds.

Lost Saga
Lost saga is a fighting/action MMO with cartoony graphics (think of Team Fortress 2 meets FMA) and an awesome, hectic gameplay. There are eleven game modes and over 50 playable heroes now, each with their own skills. You can level your heroes up and buy weapons for them. The developers eventually want to raise the hero count to 100. Some of the game modes are particularly fresh: soccer; crusade (dungeon PvE mode); and prison mode (�catch me if you can�). The arenas are well-made and with their own quirks, and combat offers a lot of fun. Altogether, Lost Saga offers more than simple entertainment; other fighting MMOs, as fun as they might be, cannot compete with Lost Saga�s character/arena count and thus are much more likely to become boring in the long term.

Magerealm
The Holy City has fallen into the hands of the Demon Overlord and his infernal army. You (and everyone else in the game) are the last of the realm's protectors, and it is your destined task to save the world from the brink of total destruction. Magerealm: Rise of Chaos is an action-oriented, browser fantasy MMORPG mostly cut in the same fashion as others. If you're familiar with games from R2Games (League of Angels, Wartune, Monkey King Online), you'll feel right at home in Magerealm. The gameplay and core mechanics are virtually the same, aside from a few modifications here and there. The user interface is as clunky and cluttered as well. Players start off by choosing a class — out of three unique types — and then it's off to the mostly-automated newbie tutorial. Like in most browser games, completing each step rewards the player with fancy equipment and resources. That's basically the gist of the gameplay — auto-pathing your way to questing and grinding for loot and levels. PvP is a major part of the game, so most (if not all) players band together to complete content and events for the sake of server domination. Of course, if you really want to play at a competitive level, be prepared to shell out some real world cash, as this is *that* kind of F2P game. Overall, Magerealm is no doubt a cookie-cutter browser game, albeit with better graphics and effects than most. It has a sizable following, though, so if you're an avid player of this genre of online game, then don't hesitate to give it a try.

Marvel Heroes
Marvel Heroes is an online action MMORPG aptly set in the Marvel universe. Players start with a second-tier superhero and lead it through labyrinthine levels from an isometric, Diablo-like point of view. Gameplay is solid with exciting combat and nice graphics. Other heroes ‘drop’ from monsters – or you can buy them. The characters appear identical – no matter what equipment you wear, it just doesn’t show. Watching ten Hulks smash a Mole Man goes from sad to depressing in no time. Of course, players can pay to make their character stand out. The game world is huge, but repetitive and with annoying spawns. If you’re not a fan of comic books, Marvel Heroes can be a disappointment. Furthermore, a disappointment that keeps begging for money -- like the drunkard who doesn’t remember that he asked you already, five minutes ago.

Master X Master
NCSoft's Master X Master is a fast-paced MOBA-type game with both PvE and PvP elements in the equation. Players get to choose their heroes (called Masters) from NCSoft's stable of developed titles, such as Statesman from the now-defunct City of Heroes MMORPG, or Blade and Soul's Jinsoyun and Poharan. Players get to unlock new Masters and persistent upgrades for them through extensive PvE missions. PvP comes in the form of the standard 3-lane battlegrounds, a base control map, and a quick deathmatch mode that will surely please instant action gamers. Mini-games that train players with various twitch mechanics are also in the game as well. Master X Master differs from other MOBAs in that the control scheme is similar to traditional MMORPGs. Players must use the WASD scheme and must manually aim auto attacks as well as special skills with their mouse. Unique and central to Master X Master is its Tag Team system where players get to choose two Masters for a match and get to swap them at any time with a cooldown. This amusing feature makes for tactical match-ups, making battles frantic and fun. If you're hankering for a new, fun twist on the MOBA formula, as well as a fan of NCSoft's pantheon of characters, then Master X Master is definitely the game for you. The game recently concluded its final Closed Beta phase and will be launching this summer season for the North American region.

Mobile Strike is a 2D base-building, PvP-centric online strategy game set in a modern war setting. Join forces with General Arnold Schwarzenegger, the game's celebrity endorser and persistent guide NPC, and bomb, blaze, blast your way to victory. The tools at your disposal this time, instead of medieval ballistas and magical spells, will be implements of mass destruction from the real world. Base building, hero leveling, equipment crafting, and alliance forging are all present in Mobile Strike, as it doesn't shy away from the tried-and-tested formula for this game genre. As such, veterans from other online strategy titles will find themselves at home with the game's mechanics and underlying systems. Newbies to the genre might get overwhelmed at first with the vast amount of options and menus in the game, but it won't take long for them to adjust to the not-so-steep learning curve. Like most F2P builder-strategy MMOs, Mobile Strike has pay-to-win elements and caters heavily to the paying gamer. Casual players will be hard-pressed to keep up with serious paying players. It can be done, but it's an uphill battle and will require even more dedication than the average hardcore player.
