The DinoHunters

The DinoHunters

Comedic first person shooter with episodic delivery. Join the DinoHunters in their time-travelling RV on their quest to make a reality/sports television show, for “mature” audiences. There appear to be about ten episodes available currently for download and play - with more on the way. The Kuma Games interface looks and acts a lot like a browser-based game however it is only a delivery system. The games load to a full screen. There are different ways to build up a score in multiplayer combat. Retrieve eggs, kill members of the opposite team, or take out some dinos. Both multiplayer and single player options are available.

Tiny Mighty Heroes Unite

Tiny Mighty Heroes Unite

Tiny Mighty Heroes Unite is a team-based superhero browser game heavily "inspired" by Marvel Comics. By "inspired", I mean familiar looking but ridiculously named superheroes with comical powers and unusually pudgy designs. Early on, you encounter a quest giver called "Furrious", the game's analogue for Beast. Shortly after, you recruit "The Archer", a stumpy Hawkeye clone who fires plungers at his foes and cleans toilets after every victorious battle. Yes, the game is *that* weird, and it becomes even more strange as you progress through content.

At its core, Tiny Mighty is a team building, equipment and item grinding game. Heroes can be improved through a multitude of ways – equipment, direct stat boosts and ability unlocks. Questing and grinding are the usual modes of progression, limited by a stamina bar that replenishes over time. PvP is present in the form of a battle arena where players can skirmish with each other for fame and rewards. Though combat is automated, players can use hero abilities to turn the tide of battle in their favor.

Aside from its bizarre humor, there's nothing fresh or unique in Tiny Mighty Heroes Unite. Compared to other browser titles, it's below average in graphical and aural presentation. The game is also poorly localized, with occasional translation errors popping up here and there. Players looking for a polished superhero browser game might want to skip this one and move on to the next.

Trove

Trove

Trove is a voxel-based sandbox MMORPG released by Trion Worlds, the developers of the popular free-to-play MMORPG RIFT. Trove builds on the Minecraft formula by focusing more on combat, progression, and exploration. Trove also features procedurally-generated worlds, so each zone is unique in layout and content.

There are currently fifteen unique classes available for players to choose during character creation. The selection covers melee and ranged classes, each with their own physical and magical damage dealing abilities. Players can switch between classes (which have individual levels) provided they've unlocked them beforehand.

Trove's gameplay is typical of any level progression-based 3D MMORPG. Players defeat monsters to gain experience, loot, and resources for item crafting and building. Weapon drops have randomized stats and rarity depending on zone difficulty, so players looking to optimize their character will have to spend more time grinding the perfect arsenal. Combat is simple hack-and-slash, and while easy, it can get quite monotonous after a while. PvP combat is available in the form of a battle arena where players can duke it out for fame and rewards.

For creative home builders, the game has a multitude of blocks and doodads that can be used to create the ultimate player fortress. Some of the building materials are only available from the higher difficulty zones, so progressing through content is still crucial to the experience.

Overall, Trove is a pleasant, polished voxel game for those looking for a different spin to the tried-and-tested Minecraft formula. Give it a whirl if you're up for some voxel-based action with the standard conventions of an MMORPG.

Some weapons require less skill than others (like the raged about Splatter Gun, used a great deal by new players due to its wide spread and high damage). The game works on both Mac OS and Windows. Regular group tournaments are available in teams of as few as one. There are more powerful weapons you can purchase on a per-day basis (for game-coin or real world cash). For a quick fix, the standard bat, machine gun, and plenty of map pick-up items should keep you gunning for an hour or so.

Vikings: War of Clans

Vikings: War of Clans

Become a powerful Jarl and command your legions of berserkers for honor and glory in Vikings: War of Clans. Set in the tumultuous period when Viking kingdoms fought for dominance in the North, Vikings: War of Clans is primarily a player-versus-player empire-building online game. Band together with fellow warriors and join an ever-dynamic world of epic battles and large-scale warfare.

Vikings: War of Clans comes from Plarium, the seasoned strategy game devs behind Sparta: War of Empires and Stormfall: Age of War, so it's as polished as strategy games get. The usual empire-builder strategy features are present in this game. Jarls get to build structures, train troops, invest in research, and engage in specializations - all for the glory of their kingdom. There's also a hero system in tandem with equipment crafting mechanics. As always, player-run alliances are the cornerstone feature in games like this, and any newbie Jarl would do well to join an established alliance if they want to progress meaningfully in the game.

Like in most F2P empire-builder games out there, players must be ready to sink in some cash if they want to be competitive in Vikings: War of Clans. The way these online games are designed, non-paying players will always be at a significant disadvantage compared to their paying counterparts. Of course, players can opt to be casual in the game and play without spending a single cent. Just be warned that it won't be a pleasant experience, especially when battling against the hardcore, paying variety of Jarl.

The Source engine, also used for Half-life 2, allows you to interact with the environment on a greater scale than in virtually any other MMORPG. The game’s combat system is the cherry on the pie: you can slash your opponents with practically anything, be it the kettle on the floor, the monster’s helmet, or the broom which just happens to be lying around. Instance-based play (the cities act as hubs and trade centers) offers solo and co-op opportunities; PvP is also available, both in dungeons and arenas.

World of Warships

World of Warships

Relive the legendary naval battles of World War II in Wargaming's action-packed World of Warships. Command the era's most destructive implement of warfare – the naval warship – and lead your team to domination. As with Wargaming's earlier historical combat MMO World of Tanks, World of Warships features tier-ranked vehicle and technology systems. The game has four ship classes to choose from. Destroyers are the smallest ships and function as stealthy scouts and torpedo-launching ambushers. Cruisers are versatile ships, capable of providing reliable shelling and anti-air defense. Battleships are slow, heavily armored juggernauts that can deal massive damage at the cost of low accuracy and lengthy reloads. Aircraft Carriers are unique in that they send out airplanes that can scout quickly, engage enemy fighters, and harass ships with bombs and torpedoes. Customization is available for all ships in the form of different equipment modules. Ship captains can also be trained in a variety of skills to increase the performance of their commandeering. World of Warships's gameplay is very similar to Wargaming's other MMO offerings. Teams start at opposite ends of a sortie map and scout their way to enemy contact. Afterwards, bombardment commences. Coordinated teamwork is essential in achieving victory, as going "Rambo into the fray" will most likely result in getting sunk quickly. Overall, World of Warships is a solid, graphically-pleasing, historical naval combat MMO with the same, tried-and-tested depth and polish as you would expect of the Wargaming devs. Give it a shot if you're hankering for some good, old-fashioned naval warfare.

Zombies Ate My Pizza

Zombies Ate My Pizza

Zombies Ate My Pizza is a top-down 2D shooter by R2Games. Fight your way through ever growing hordes of pizza-hungry zombies with numerous weapons, guided by the smell of the delicious, cheese-topped crust.

Now you probably aren’t looking for a story in a game with a title like this, but just so you know the pizza theme isn’t really important here. The dialogues feature silly humor that doesn’t quite hit the mark, but the younger players may get a few laughs out of it. Players run through rather repetitive and short levels of zombies that attack you melee, from afar, or with special abilities. The combat is rather fun and there’s a lot of handholding until the later levels when there’s suddenly none. Although the design of the levels leaves a lot to be desired, the decent, one might even say unique graphics make running through them an enjoyable aesthetic experience.

If PvP weren’t automated, ZAMP would be much better. To R2Games’ credit, this title doesn’t require the player to pay up to have a decent chance in becoming a top player; on the other hand, it doesn’t really make clear why a player would want to.

Zone4

Zone4

Arcade-style fighting with a story based on an underground fighting club turned bad. There are six characters and two classes to choose from. The two types are called Street and Ground fighters -- with a variety of styles to choose beneath that. You move with the arrow keys (no WASD or click-to-move option). There are five games modes available when creating player versus player matches in the lobby. Item mode gives you power-up crates you can collect to use special attacks on your opponents. The player-versus-environment aspect of the game involves matches of up to four players duking it out cooperatively against NPCs in a classic side-scrolling arcade setting. The English translations aren’t that great, but the combo-oriented gameplay is fun and easy to get into.
