Scarlet Legacy
Scarlet Legacy is a fantasy-themed MMORPG. You can choose your character from four classes (warrior, assassin, monk, and mystic), and level up for 30 levels. The game is a nice experience – you’ll especially like the ‘auto-bot’ which you can use for grinding quests (it seems like a bad idea at first, but it really frees a lot of your time). The combat system is decent and the animations are smooth and nicely done (character jumps look patchy, though). The mount system is what makes SL stand out: mounts are upgradeable, there is a great number of mount types, and all of them look awesome. Although Scarlet Legacy has an indistinct story (all you're given is that you ‘have to save princess Scarlet’) and an ugly translation, the game has more than enough strong points to make up for it.

Seven Dragons
Seven dragons is a browser-based online strategy game. There are two factions to choose from, as well as three races in each faction – each with its own racial abilities. Seven Dragons has a gripping story based around dragons. Sadly, the story doesn’t integrate with the actions players take. There are plenty of hero units –- which are unique to each race -- to hire, as well a great number of race-unique troops. The game process is rewarding, and there is a lot to do each day, including quests, fighting, upgrading your city, equipping your hero and building buildings. Fight your daily wars with enemies and critters found throughout the map to level your heroes, expand your empire, and strengthen your faction in the vast, fun, and addictive game world.

Smokin' Guns
Open source total conversion of Quake III Arena, a first person shooter. A slew of historically accurate weapons from the American frontier era to choose from: pistols, rifles, shotguns, dynamite, knives, Molotov cocktails, and even a gatling gun. All game modes (except for deathmatch-styled) involve the use of rounds, a time limit, where if you die you have to wait for the next segment to begin before your re-spawn. The most interesting of the modes is Bank Robbery where one team tries to loot the bank and the other defends it, reversing the roles of the teams after each round. You get cash from killing other players (or in the Bank Robbery mode, by successfully busting the safe and bringing the loot back to safe location). Your avatar takes different amounts of damage depending on which part of the body is hit (meaning a head-shot will probably take you out, but a leg-shot won’t).

Tank Ace is a tank battling MMO. The game is a treat for World War II tech enthusiasts, as tanks in Tank Ace are based on actual machines used in the war, and their strengths and weaknesses are represented in the game. You can play three factions in the game – the U.S., Germany, and the Soviet Union. The combat is intense and offers quite an immersive experience. Players can take part in four sorts of missions: recon, escort, destroy, and defend. Participating in PvE or PvP allows players to use skills, level up and add stats. In the short term, the game’s combat is more interesting than in, e.g., World of Tanks, but the fast respawn time and general gameplay does a lot to dumb down the strategy.

Thirst of Night
Thirst of Night (ToN) is a vampire MMO strategy game played in the browser. It’s developed by Kabam, who tend to make games that differ in only minor ways. The story is set in the year 2051 shortly after a magnetic pulse has triggered volcanic eruptions, causing the earth to be covered in a constant twilight and finally allowing vampires to break free from centuries of oppression. The player starts with a vampire city, and it’s all the usual after that: train your gargoyle (the city’s pet), upgrade your army, form alliances, explore, etc. However, ToN, although merely re-working a cliché, stands out with its impeccably designed graphics and manages to hold an atmosphere of its own – an impressive feat for a browser game. Paid features could and should be less emphasized, though.

2D side-scrolling action fantasy game. Fighting, fighting, and more fighting. For classes, choose from The Azure Dragon (champion), the White Fighter (tank), or the Phoenix (ranged). At level eighteen you select one of three more powerful hero classes you will use for the duration of your character’s life. Use the keyboard’s arrow keys to move. Double-tap the arrows to run and use the spacebar to jump. There is a basic but powerful crafting system for armor and weapons. Warriors Saga
A turn-based isometric MMORPG, played in the browser. Featuring psychedelic graphics and cute characters, WS has an indistinct story (based on a novel), which could well be attributed to a rough translation. Two strong points are daily quests and a developed pet system. PvP is allowed only four days a week from 20:00-21:00, with special pet rewards for the winners. You can buy PvP bonuses with real money, though. Warriors Saga also has a nice party system with, it seems, group quests being the number one priority. The game is based around raising your pets and interacting with other characters, rather than leveling and killing monsters.
