Eve Online is an ambitious sci-fi MMORPG. With a single, engrossing universe having about 40-50 thousand players online simultaneously, Eve Online is very much a landmark game. The action taking place in a galaxy called New Eden. Players pick from five races and team up in Corporations -- corps for short -- to gain dominance with their starships in breathtaking, complex battles. The graphics are stellar and, along with game content, have been updated regularly since Eves 2003 release. Eve is a second life to many, and with reason. Players get by with piracy, manufacturing, exploration, combat, and more -- to each his own. Eve Online has all the trappings of a typical MMORPG, but it's also much more -- its actually one of the richest online gaming experiences nowadays. Before you start, however, know this: the learning curve is an steep; the game is PvP-centric; and, finally, its nearly impossible to enjoy Eve without social encounters.See Videos

You can own a pet, but it doesn’t work like it would in an RPG where the pet is a cooperative companion. When you use the pet, you in fact are the pet for that duration of gameplay. The game is often compared to Club Penguin for its target audience, safety features, and membership options. There is ample content without shelling out real-world money. Island Forge is a creative isometric MMO with strategy and RPG elements. Players build their own islands, create quests and explore other players’ islands as well as complete quests for XP and resources. The concept is similar in some ways to Minecraft, but this is truly a unique game. Although created by a single developer, Island Forge is richly detailed, with ambitious expansion plans in the works. The game's graphics aren't cutting edge, but sometimes you can witness true beauty hidden in its isometric tiles and especially in the creative and sometimes bizarre player-made quests.See Videos

Planet Arkadia is the fourth planet of the Entropia Universe, an MMORPG with a cash-based economy. There are four more planets in the Entropia Universe, all connected with space travel. This planet is centered on treasure hunting – mining finds worth over $1000 are not unheard of. Planet Arkadia has a rich history and many dangerous zones populated by the first inhabitants, the Oratan, who definitely aren’t well-disposed toward human colonists. The game has a steep learning curve and leveling is skill-based like in Elder Scrolls. The Entropia Universe can be discouraging for newcomers, especially non-paying ones. However, the game’s social features, the vast and beautiful world, the great detail and community spirit make playing Planet Arkadia a remarkable experience – if you’re prepared to invest quite some time (and perhaps a bit of money) in it.See Videos

Planet Calypso is the oldest planet of the Entropia Universe, an MMORPG with a cash-based economy. There are four more planets in the Entropia Universe, all connected with space travel. Players progress through the game by trying to increase their moneymaking efficiency. The game has a steep learning curve. Leveling is skill-based and slow. Activities for making money range from sweat gathering to crafting, mining and plastic surgery you name it. Quests have been implemented to give players a sense of having a goal in the game, but the game lacks any story-related immersion whatsoever (this is counterbalanced with the elaborate social system). The fact that the games economy is pegged to real-life currency has its ups and downs: you have to pay up if you dont want to gather sweat until you can afford beginning hunting gear. Planet Calypso should be avoided by people prone to gambling.See Videos

Developed by Chinese tech titan NetEase and published by My.com, the Russian-owned entertainment company behind Skyforge, Revelation Online is an Asian-themed MMORPG that features massive, flyable, open world, frenetic, action-oriented combat, and a plethora of PvE and PvP options to keep the player engaged. Starting players get to choose from six unique classes and get to fiddle around with their looks using the game's very robust character creator. Combat can be done via traditional tab-targeting, assisted action combat, or a hybrid version of the two. Some classes are best suited for certain combat schemes, so new players should read up before progressing further into the game. The world of Nuanor, Revelation Online's setting, is breathtaking and features stunning vistas and landscapes. Fortunately for the player, they can explore the entirety of this mostly-seamless world with the game's flight system, which becomes available early on. Leveling up in the game is quest-centric, with a heavy focus on daily quests and events. Missing out on these daily activities will slow down the player's progression. Upon level-up, players are awarded points which they can freely allocate to character stats that improve their class in different ways. Gearing up involves a lot of dungeon and raid runs on different difficulty settings. Costuming is present in the game, for those interested in further character customization. Gear crafting, as well as non-combat professions, such as Cooking and Fishing, are also part of the features, allowing for players to increase their character's versatility. Avid "theme-park" MMORPG gamers will find Revelation Online to be a treat when it comes to things to do. PvP is quite robust as well, featuring duels, 3v3 arena battles, battlegrounds, instanced guild wars and persistent castle/territory sieging. There's a cash shop element in the game, which mostly deals with costuming and convenience items. While paying players will see an advantage by purchasing these conveniences, the gap isn't really insurmountable by their non-paying counterpart. Essentially, it will only take the non-paying gamer a longer time to complete certain game milestones compared to the paying kind. Some gamers might be turned off at that prospect, but that's a common system in most F2P games.See Videos

Trove is a voxel-based sandbox MMORPG released by Trion Worlds, the developers of the popular free-to-play MMORPG RIFT. Trove builds on the Minecraft formula by focusing more on combat, progression, and exploration. Trove also features procedurally-generated worlds, so each zone is unique in layout and content. There are currently fifteen unique classes available for players to choose during character creation. The selection covers melee and ranged classes, each with their own physical and magical damage dealing abilities. Players can switch between classes (which have individual levels) provided they've unlocked them beforehand. Trove's gameplay is typical of any level progression-based 3D MMORPG. Players defeat monsters to gain experience, loot, and resources for item crafting and building. Weapon drops have randomized stats and rarity depending on zone difficulty, so players looking to optimize their character will have to spend more time grinding the perfect arsenal. Combat is simple hack-and-slash, and while easy, it can get quite monotonous after a while. PvP combat is available in the form of a battle arena where players can duke it out for fame and rewards. For creative home builders, the game has a multitude of blocks and doodads that can be used to create the ultimate player fortress. Some of the building materials are only available from the higher difficulty zones, so progressing through content is still crucial to the experience. Overall, Trove is a pleasant, polished voxel game for those looking for a different spin to the tried-and-tested Minecraft formula. Give it a whirl if you're up for some voxel-based action with the standard conventions of an MMORPG.See Videos

Virtual Families (VF) is a real-life sim quite akin to The Sims. Adopt a character and move him into your home, then reach out to the second half by using a dating website. Once they have kids you’re bound to be hooked. Players have to keep an eye on their adoptees’ needs and help them fulfill these needs and wants by dragging them around—to the kitchen when they’re hungry, the outdoors when they’re longing for nature, and on top of one another when they’re ‘in the mood’. The game plays out in real-time, meaning that it still continues when you log off unless it’s paused. Just like in The Sims, players can buy furniture and decorations, but players also can unlock achievements and awards as well as find secrets. Success is measured mostly in pecuniary terms in this game. Altogether, VF is a decent title, especially since it’s a mobile game (also available as a PC download). It has vibrant graphics, a familiar feel, and of course the characters are lovable, especially the children. VF does, however, have a derivative feel to it, plus there are bugs in the AI that makes the families less clever than they ought to be.See Videos
