Grand Voyage

Grand Voyage (GV) is an RPG/Commerce game set in the Age of Exploration. Players start with a basic ship and slowly work their way towards obtaining new, sometimes fantastic means of transportation like the submarine of Jules Verne. The main activity in Grand Voyage is buying goods at one port and selling them off at another, which brings about much fun due to the game’s monetary system, resembling that of real markets. Now the downside. Battles and quests are automated; the story doesn’t stand a chance; the cluttered interface is scarcely legible. Historical accuracy can be found in word not in deed: for example, Athens was but a small village during the Age of Exploration, definitely no thriving port; furthermore, you can’t ‘explore uncharted waters’ as the ads tell you; etc. GV has some fun stuff for a casual title, but unless the topic really interests you there are better games to play.
