Eve Online is an ambitious sci-fi MMORPG. With a single, engrossing universe having about 40-50 thousand players online simultaneously, Eve Online is very much a landmark game. The action taking place in a galaxy called New Eden. Players pick from five races and team up in Corporations -- ‘corps’ for short -- to gain dominance with their starships in breathtaking, complex battles. The graphics are stellar and, along with game content, have been updated regularly since Eve’s 2003 release. Eve is a second life to many, and with reason. Players get by with piracy, manufacturing, exploration, combat, and more -- to each his own. Eve Online has all the trappings of a typical MMORPG, but it's also much more -- it’s actually one of the richest online gaming experiences nowadays. Before you start, however, know this: the learning curve is an steep; the game is PvP-centric; and, finally, it’s nearly impossible to enjoy Eve without social encounters.See Videos

EverQuest, the groundbreaking MMORPG developed by Sony Online Entertainment, was first released in 1999 and has since undergone significant changes, including 19 expansions and a gradual shift towards a free-to-play game model. The game boasts an impressive total of 16 classes and 16 races within a continuously expanding game world. The graphics are, naturally, quite outdated (even though they’ve been constantly updated since 1999), but the new, reworked UI sometimes causes complaints. PvP seems off-balance as well, but that’s not what EverQuest is about – as the name implies. There’s a depth to this game few can surpass – the world is full of secrets, and exploring it promises much fun; the PvE is on par with most pay-to-play titles; the community is inviting and helpful. Definitely try it if you consider yourself an RPG lover.See Videos

Everquest II is a MMORPG developed by Sony Online Entertainment. It was released back in 2004 and went free-to-play in 2010. The game offers an immersive experience with huge gameplay variety – 20 races and 25 classes to choose from, and expansion packs bring even more variety. The fantasy-themed story, set in a universe parallel to the original EverQuest, flows smoothly and gives the player a sense of direction. NPCs are sometimes elaborately scripted, surprising players in many different ways. The fun crafting system won’t disappoint. Everquest 2 is definitely developed with thoroughness and with care. Although the graphics and animation haven’t aged well, the interface is very convenient and the soundtrack leaves no more do be desired. Combat lacks in speed, but PvE and general gameplay doesn’t disappoint with about 6000 quests available to those who have unlocked the whole game world with a subscription. Definitely a must-try for any MMORPG fan.See Videos

Classic and simplistic graphics with no lag. Beware: There are no safe hiding spots from monsters. Player killing is allowed after level fifteen but be wary as your character may be jailed for it. Fantasy of Sword
Fantasy of Sword is an anime-styled fantasy MMORPG. There are 7 classes in the world of Fantasy of Sword, and the eighth is in the making. The classes are the usual -- warriors, mages, and something in between. Turn-based combat doesn’t offer much of a challenge, but it does become more interesting when you learn skills. There’s a pet system and you can use your pet's skills as well as your own. Fantasy of Sword is instance-based, and quests aren’t very imaginative; however, if you like to get to know a fantasy world through text, you’ll enjoy the quests, as quest NPCs tell a lot about the story through dialogues. There’s a small but nice community; players can form guilds and do PvP, as well as participate in the market.

Fiesta is a social, anime-styled MMORPG set in the world of Isya. Choose from four classes – fighter, cleric, archer and mage. Players also get job advancements at levels 20, 60, and 100. The game has vibrant, brightly colored graphics. The world is beautiful and vast; however, questing is boring, especially alone, so being a social player helps. Kingdom quests – group quests which usually include killing a boss – are a treat, though. Fiesta’s inhabitants can learn numerous professions and explore the game’s well-developed crafting system. Fiesta, although by no means a gem in some aspects, has its social features well worked out. You’ll particularly enjoy the awesome, GM-supervised game events and the friendly community. If you like casual games which provide a fresh experience each time you log on, look no further.See Videos

Golden Age is a browser-based strategy MMO developed by Aeria Games. The game has some three factions, and classes are determined by your choice of skills. The setting is medieval fantasy. Golden Age is an interesting crossover between RPG and strategy, featuring elements of both. The strategy part involves your village, which you upgrade to gain resources, populate and nurture in a variety of ways. Relationships with other players are in the form of alliances. Golden Age’s RPG features include quests, leveling up, learning skills, acquiring items, and so on. In the end, though, the most important thing is your army, and that’s why it’s safe to say that Golden Age is at its core a strategy game – and it’s surprisingly fun for such an unconventional genre amalgam.See Videos

Grand Voyage (GV) is an RPG/Commerce game set in the Age of Exploration. Players start with a basic ship and slowly work their way towards obtaining new, sometimes fantastic means of transportation like the submarine of Jules Verne. The main activity in Grand Voyage is buying goods at one port and selling them off at another, which brings about much fun due to the game’s monetary system, resembling that of real markets. Now the downside. Battles and quests are automated; the story doesn’t stand a chance; the cluttered interface is scarcely legible. Historical accuracy can be found in word not in deed: for example, Athens was but a small village during the Age of Exploration, definitely no thriving port; furthermore, you can’t ‘explore uncharted waters’ as the ads tell you; etc. GV has some fun stuff for a casual title, but unless the topic really interests you there are better games to play.See Videos

Island Forge is a creative isometric MMO with strategy and RPG elements. Players build their own islands, create quests and explore other players’ islands as well as complete quests for XP and resources. The concept is similar in some ways to Minecraft, but this is truly a unique game. Although created by a single developer, Island Forge is richly detailed, with ambitious expansion plans in the works. King’s Road is a browser-based dungeon crawler MMO by Rumble Games. It brings the experience of titles like Diablo and Torchlight to the browser in a beautiful 3D environment. King’s Road is amazing right off the bat. Players enter into a world of chaos and distress and left-click their way around by unlocking new skills, merchants, achievements and crafting features. And of course, getting heaps upon heaps of loot is also an integral part of it. The game world is instanced not real-time, having the player travel to hubs and dungeons from the main city. King’s Road sports the three staple classes – wizard, archer, knight – and an intricate skill tree for each. Classes can be switched in-game. Players craft items by giving them to a blacksmith; this does provide an incentive not to sell everything, but it’s also very slow. Upon death players simply wait for revival, but some dungeons will kick out a player after their third death. Social features are abundant (co-op is available even with strangers) and maps have replay value—in fact, replaying is highly encouraged—as completion of a level awards premium currency. Overall, if you had the slightest bit of fun playing Diablo, Torchlight, Nox, or any other such game for that matter—do play King’s Road. It’s nothing short of amazing.See Videos

Kingdom Rift is a browser-based MMORPG from R2Games. It features a vivid and beautiful fantasy world that’s dulled by autocombat and a lack of real challenge. As it is with R2 titles, the first thing to ask is whether there’s something unique to find here. As you reach level 20 (in ten minutes or so), you start to see that there isn’t, but it isn’t all bad either. Even though stuff is being thrown at the player for no good reason—you acquire a mount in, like, three minutes—and you can run around clicking ‘Accept’ and ‘Hand in’ and watch your character level up just like that, Kingdom Rift is also beautiful and atmospheric. There’s also some sense of progress as players play through the story in seven stages. Strategy isn’t that important as combat can be computer-controlled, plus it’s decided mostly by battle rating, which for all practical purposes replaces a character’s stats. Kingdom Rift is better than the average R2 game. Whether it makes it fun enough to play, that’s up for debate. You should, however, at least take a look at it if you liked Diablo and like watching your character grow, even if you don't play much of a role in the process.See Videos
